20-Minute Treadmill Workout

Shorter days and colder weather are here, girls, like it or not! So this week I’m bringing you a 20-minute treadmill training that you can complete indoors during the fall and winter months.

I love getting outdoors for a run. The sunshine on my face, the cool air in my lungs, and stretching my legs really get my endorphins kicking in. But now that we live in the Midwest again, it’s hard to get these workouts in from November - February. So last year, I splurged and invested in a high-performance treadmill for my home workout space.

When training with indoor cardio equipment, whether it’s a treadmill, elliptical or indoor bike, the key to a good training is variety and intervals. It’s important to play with resistance and incline on the treadmill to mimic those hills on an outdoor run, and also increase speed to really challenge yourself and get your blood pumping.

One of my favorite ways to do this is by coordinating my treadmill workout with music. Last winter, the Sisterhood came along with me for a live treadmill workout and I’m pretty sure none of them will ever listen to the song Thunderstruck the same way again! Every time ACDC said “thunder” we added .1 to our treadmill speed, and trust me, by the end of the song I could feel my pulse in my ears!

We burned nearly 100 calories in that 5-minute song! And it was totally worth it!

While an intense treadmill session isn’t easy, it IS a calorie-torcher and can be done in as little as 20 minutes! Click the button below to grab one of my printable treadmill workouts to try at home today!
