5 On-the-Go Breakfast Recipes
Mornings (I can hear some of you groaning from here!)…
I see you mamas getting the little out the door to school and daycare.
I see you standing at your bathroom mirror applying your mascara and giving yourself a quick last look before you head to work.
I see you clocking out from a 12-hour shift at the hospital and heading home to get some much-needed rest.
I see you SISTERS logging in for our daily LIVE workouts and checking in with your accountability buddies.
You know what I didn’t see in all those scenarios???
You taking time to nourish your body with healthy, nutritious food to fuel your day!
I know it’s hard to find time to sit down and relax on most mornings because you’ve just got so damn much stuff to do. But as the saying goes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day! This is an opportunity for your body to recover from your overnight fasting: “When you wake up, the blood sugar your body needs to make your muscles and brain work their best is usually low. Breakfast helps replenish it.” And a healthy breakfast fuels your muscles with protein, stimulates your energy through carbs, and satisfies your cravings with a healthy balance of fats.
In addition, “Many studies have linked eating breakfast to good health, including better memory and concentration, lower levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, and lower chances of getting diabetes, heart disease, and being overweight.” It’s a win-win-win all around!
But you don’t have to build yourself an omelette or buffet station every day to see the benefits of a healthy breakfast. All it takes is a few of your favorite recipes and 30 minutes of meal prep on Sunday to fill your fridge with grab-and-go breakfast options that are convenient and nutritious!
One of my favorites for meal prep is overnight oats. Not only are they a great macro balance start to my day and a recovery tool post-workout, but they fill me up so I’m not starving by 9 AM. And with so many varieties of overnight oats that can include fruits, peanut butter (my fave!), and whole grains, it’s a clean addition to your diet too.
